AlanJames Burns

AlanJames Burns (he/they) is a neurodivergent, environmental, and audiovisual artist and curator producing interactive, socially engaged, and site-specific projects reflecting on subjects of disability, mental well-being, and climate concerns. Burns regularly mentors artists with disabilities, and has collaborated with over 80+ visual artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, and scientists through their projects. 

Recent projects include, ‘The Waking Walls’ 2023, an immersive audio-lament that connects lost mourning practices in traditional Irish art forms to understanding experiences of ecological grief. Produced for a site-specific audio installation at Cloughoughter Castle, Cavan. Commissioned by Cavan Arts 2021 core funded by Arts Council of Ireland, North/South Co-Operation Fund, Creative Ireland Cavan, and Irish Hospice Foundation.

‘Augmented Body, Altered Mind’, 2022, an immersive interactive experience that explores the relationships between neurodivergence and climate change. Funded by Arts Council Ireland, Arts and Disability Connect Scheme managed by Arts and Disability Ireland. www.augmentedbodyalteredmind.com
